Sunday Star #6: Sarah @ Sarah's Reviews

Hello, everyone! Today we have Sarah joining us. Everyone give her a warm welcome!

BWS tips button

Blogger: Sarah
Blog: Sarah's Reviews
A little bit about Sarah:
I'm a wife and mother who loves to read and write.

Why did you start a blog?
Originally, I just wanted to learn how to write book reviews, but now my real focus is providing content based reviews. Basically, I mention if the book or series has sexual content, violence, gore, profanity, etc . . .

How did you come up with your blog title?
Well my name is Sarah and it's a book review blog, so I used every ounce of my imaginative ability and came up with Sarah's Reviews. I know, I'm amazing. :-)

How long have you been blogging?
Since July 2010.

What are your top 5 favorite books? Your top 5 favorite authors?
It would take me days to narrow the field down to five, so I'm going to pretend you asked for my five favorite series. Right now I'd have to say that I Iove The Archives of Anthropos, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Dresden Files, and the Mercedes Thompson series. Five writers who's amazing skills I seriously envy would be Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs, Richelle Mead, Veronica Roth, and J.K. Rowling.

What are three things that you never leave home without?
My imagination, my children, and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Which book character would you love to have dinner with? Where would you go?
Bilbo Baggins and we would eat in his hobbit hole because the courses would never end.

What do you do when you aren't reading?
I'm busy being a mommy, a wife, and writing my own fantasy!

How would you describe your personality?
I like to think that I'm a nice, intelligent, creative person who likes to laugh . . . But I've no idea. ;-)

How many book do you read per week? How often do you post on your blog?
I read anywhere between 1 and 5 books a week and typically post one review - although I posted as many as three a week.

What do you think is your biggest accomplishment as a blogger?
Really figuring out how to write short to the point reviews that give readers a specific kind of information.

Thank you for being with us today Sarah! I hope everyone goes and checks out her blog. In fact, I'm checking it out right now.

Sunday Star #5: Debz @ Debz Bookshelf

Hello, everyone! Today we have Debz joining us. Everyone should give her a warm welcome!
Blogger: Debz
A little bit about Debz:
I'm Debz, a teenage book geek with a strange obsession with fairy tales. After years of reading fairy tales, I got to live in the land of fairy tales! Now I'm back in the US homeschooling through high school! When I'm not schooling, reading, or blogging, I'm singing, dancing, cooking, babysitting, writing, and lots of other -ings!

Why did you start a blog?
Before I began my book blog, I ran a personal blog. After it had been up for a couple months, I realized that practically all my posts were about books (which bored my only reader--my aunt), so I transferred all those posts to a new blog, and just kept going with it!

How did you come up with your blog title?
It started out as Darlin' Deb's Bookshelf, but then I decided to erase the Darlin' and switch it to Debz, which had been my screen name for a couple years already.

How long have you been blogging?
I've been blogging in general for over 6 years, but Debz Bookshelf has been around since April 2011!

What are your top 5 favorite books? Your top 5 favorite authors?
"1. Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
2. Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by Jessica Day George
3. Matched by Ally Condie
4. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
5. My Fair Godmother by Janette Rallison"

What are three things that you never leave home without?
A book, my wallet, and my shoes!

Which book character would you love to have dinner with? Where would you go?
Razo from the Books of Bayern! He's pretty awesome, and would most defnitely plan a fun date night! He'd probably want to go somewhere crazy and random--maybe Chuck E Cheese, or maybe a Chinese Buffet!

What do you do when you aren't reading?
I sing. I cook. I clean. I write. I sleep. That's just about it!

How would you describe your personality?
Quiet, gentle, calm, sweet, kind, happy, and compassionate!

How many book do you read per week? How often do you post on your blog?
I probably read 2-4 books in a good week, but this year hasn't had many good weeks, and I've averaged less than 2 a week! As for posting, I usually post 3-5 times a week, unless there's a read-a-thon or something going on.

What do you think is your biggest accomplishment as a blogger?
Semi-successfully hosting my Fairy Tales Retold challenge! I'm falling behind in my discussion posts, but other than that I'm on top of things!

Thank you for being with us today, Debz! Everyone go check out her blog! I myself have been following her blog for awhile, and it's wonderful.

Sunday Star [4]

Hello, everyone! Today we have Ellie joining us for an interview. Shall we begin?

Blogger: Ellie A.
Ellie is going to give us a short description about herself:
I am fifteen years old and I am based in the Philippines. I bury my nose in all kinds of genres, but I tend to lean towards contemporary YA, legal thrillers, fantasy, and historical fiction. Some of my favorite authors are John Green, David Levithan, Haruki Murakami, Rick Riordan, George R.R. Martin, Leo Tolstoy, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Why did you start a blog?
Well, I always loved reading but I didn't have any friends who read the kind of books that I read. One day, I discovered goodreads and went crazy! Most of the people who added me as a friend had book blogs, so I checked some of them out and thought, "hey, this would be a great way to rant and fangirl over books." and so The Selkie Reads Stories was born. *cue lion king music*

How did you come up with your blog title?
Well, I just really really love Selkies and creatures from the sea. Boring, I know. It was that or awkwardturtlealert.

How long have you been blogging?
I started blogging last year, but it was so cluttered and all of the reviews were very unprofessional so I deleted almost every post and decided to started over.

What are your top 5 favorite books? Your top 5 favorite authors?
"Meep. Umm, so far? In no particular order, top 5 books would be Anna Karenina, Anumal Empire: Lazarball, The Book of Lost Things, A Game of Thrones, and The Perks of Being A Wallflower. Top 5 authors would be John Green, David Mitchell, Haruki Murakami, George R.R. Martin, Leo Tolstoy, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Again, in no particular order."

What are three things that you never leave home without?
A handkerchief, my wallet, and my phone.

Which book character would you love to have dinner with? Where would you go?
I'd take Fanboy from The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl to the nearest comic con. Geeking out with him would be so Mathematical!

What do you do when you aren't reading?
I'm into photography and graphic design, so you'll probably see me taking 999 different shots of a cupcake in different angles and editing the color balance using photoshop. I also make book covers for some online friends, and I take long, romantic walks to the fridge every day.

How would you describe your personality?
I am an awkward turtle. My awkwardness and shyness is over level 999. I like hiding in my own shell and shutting out the entire world when I feel the need to.

How many book do you read per week? How often do you post on your blog?
It depends. If I have nothing else to do, I can usually read two or three books a day. You do the math. I try to post at least thrice a week, but laziness gets the best of me sometimes.

What do you think is your biggest accomplishment as a blogger?
That's a big question. Umm, I would say that my biggest accomplishment so far would be reaching the number of followers I have right now. But every time an author comments on my review of their book is a huge accomplishment, really.

Thank you for joining us today, Ellie! I hope everyone goes and check out The Selkie Reads Stories!

Mainly to express myself throughout my reviews, read more, talk to authors and to readers.

Sunday Star [1]

Welcome everyone to the first Sunday Star ever! I hope you all will stick by for a long time, because I want Sunday Star to be a great success, and benefiting all bloggers. So, let's welcome our first guest!

Blogger: Tess the Best
Blog: My Pathway to Books
First, Tess is going to give us a short description about herself.
Hey I am Tess, the author of My Pathway to Books, which is my YA book blog, and I have just in the past year really gotten into reading! I just recently made my blog an Indie only blog because I love to read and promote their books. I am a college student who loves Chemistry! I am a book nerd, kindle lover, and a read-aholic! I am a Princess because I am a daughter of the King of Kings!

Now, let's move on to the questions!
Why did you start a blog?
It was on a complete whim! Last summer I was completely bored, so I did what every other bored person does, got on my computer. That day I set up my twitter account, goodreads account, and blogger. When I first set up my blog, it wasn’t even a book blog. It was just a blog about life and it was called Live, Laugh, Love (so original right?). Then I started reading a ton of books and wanted a way to keep up with my thoughts and that is where this madness began.

How did you come up with your blog title?
When I was in Savannah, GA, I was looking at a bunch of art shows and noticed that I have this crazy obsession with Pathways. Every time I would see a painting of a path I would fall in love so I knew I wanted to incorporate that in my blog somehow.

How long have you been blogging?
Officially I started July 2011, but I really wasn't blogging regularly about books until October 2011.

What do you think is your biggest accomplishment as a blogger?
With every follower I get, I feel more accomplished.  I do a little happy dance with each new one I get and even as my blog gets bigger that won't change!  I think my BIGGEST accomplishment was passing all my classes this semester while blogging!  I didn't realize how hard it was going to be to balance school and blogging but it was difficult! I still haven't mastered that balancing act, but I hope to get better at it!

What are your top 5 favorite books? Authors?
Books
Redheads are Soulless by Heather M. White
Obsidian by Jennifer Armentrout
Madly by M. Leighton
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
Wishing for Someday Soon by Tiffany King
Authors
Heather M. White
Addison Moore
M. Leighton
Chelsea Fine
Jane Austen

What are three things you never leave home without?
IPhone
Mac
Kindle

Which book character would you love to have dinner with? Where would you go?
Daemon from Obsidian
At the lake behind his house. We would sit on the rock having a pb&j and we would probably fight the whole time.

What do you do when you aren't reading?
I'm on twitter A LOT! I'm also a student so school work tends to get in the way of reading.  I also really love crafty things: scrapbook, cake decorating, knitting, etc.

How would you describe your personality?
I am extremely outgoing, and I like to talk A LOT!  I also like to be in charge, but I'm not the bossy kind (at least I don't think I am ).  I also really love to laugh.  I am definitely the person that laughs at any and all jokes! I am also one for spontaneity and going with the flow!

How many book do you read per week? How often do you post on your blog?
I read about 2-3 books per week (that's during the school year idk how many I will read on summer weeks) During the school year, I posted about 4-5 times a week, but since school has been out I have posted everyday (I'm playing catch up).

Thank you Tess, for being with us today! I hope all of my followers will take a look at her blog sometime!
